How to use Langey
There are two ways to learn with Langey. You can keep Roadmap turned off and choose lessons freely, or turn Roadmap on and follow a personalized daily study plan.
Learn Without Roadmap
With Roadmap turned off, you study German at your own pace. You choose what to learn, when to learn it, and can track your progress across every module.
Step 1: Select Your Level
Choose your current German level (A1, A2 or B1). You'll be taken to the Modules page where all learning modules for your level are available.
Step 2: Explore the Modules
You'll find six learning modules:
- Vocabulary
- Grammar
- Speaking
- Writing
- Reading
- Listening
Each module has its own progress ring showing how much of that module you've completed. At the bottom of the screen, the level progress bar shows your overall progress for the selected level.
Vocabulary
Open the Vocabulary module to review flashcards.
For every word you can:
- View the German word and its English meaning.
- Listen to the pronunciation.
- Read an example sentence in both German and English.
- Mark the flashcard as Good or Bad based on whether you remembered it.
Select Stats to view your vocabulary progress for the current level.
Grammar
Open the Grammar module and select any grammar topic available for your level.
Each topic includes:
- Clear explanations
- Examples
- Grammar tables
After learning, switch to Practice to complete interactive exercises.
Select Stats to monitor your grammar progress.
Speaking
Open the Speaking module and choose a conversation scenario or create your own.
During conversations:
- Speak naturally with the AI.
- Tap any word spoken by the AI to see its meaning.
- Use Suggest whenever you need help replying.
In Stats, you can view:
- Your speaking target hours.
- Grammar topics you've used correctly.
- Grammar topics that need improvement.
Writing
Write any paragraph you'd like.
After writing, you can:
- Check Vocabulary corrections.
- Check Grammar corrections separately.
In Stats, you'll find:
- Your recommended word target.
- Your grammar performance.
Reading
Choose a reading topic available for your level.
For every lesson you can:
- Read the passage.
- Review difficult vocabulary.
- Complete the activity.
Select Stats to view your reading progress.
Listening
Choose a listening topic for your level.
For every lesson you can:
- Listen to the audio.
- Review difficult vocabulary.
- Complete the listening activity.
Select Stats to view your listening progress.
Track Your Progress
As you complete activities:
- Each module's progress ring fills up.
- Your overall level progress bar grows.
Once you've completed your level, simply continue to the next one.
Learn with Roadmap
Roadmap Mode creates a personalized daily study plan while teaching exactly the same content you can access when Roadmap is turned off.
Instead of choosing what to study each day, Langey automatically prepares your daily tasks.
Step 1: Enable Roadmap
Turn on the Roadmap toggle from the top-right corner.
During setup you'll choose:
- Your target completion time.
- Your reason for learning German.
Langey then generates your personalized roadmap.
Step 2: Complete Today's Tasks
The Modules page now becomes your daily task list.
You'll still use the same six modules:
- Vocabulary
- Grammar
- Speaking
- Writing
- Reading
- Listening
The learning experience inside every module remains exactly the same as when Roadmap is turned off.
